As far as travel and lodging are concerned, for anyone flying in you’ll want to arrive in St. Louis. I would suggest renting a car and driving over the
river (the Mississippi) to reach our campus. It is a short drive of only
about 30-40 minutes from the airport. Directions from the airport or your
respective campuses are best worked out by accessing Mapquest on the web
(Mapquest).
There are plenty of hotels in
the immediate area to choose from. Let me suggest that you choose a hotel
that is in O’Fallon, IL, a town that is just to the west of Lebanon. There
you will be no more than a 10 minute drive from campus. Here is a list of a
few suggested hotels in O’Fallon:
Nightly hotel rates in the area range from $60-80. Again,
Mapquest is a great resource for getting directions from your hotel to
campus. A McKendree College campus map can be accessed from McKendree’s
web site (http://www.mckendree.edu)

happen during the afternoon of the 31st. Locations for the field trips may
include the Anheuser-Busch brewery, the St. Louis Science Center, the
Missouri Botanical Gardens, the St. Louis Arch, and the St. Louis Zoo.
You’ll be able to choose your preferred field trip on the registration form.
The banquet will begin at 7pm in Pearson’s Hall, followed by our banquet
speaker. Oral and poster presentations (if needed) will occur again during
the morning of the 1st. The convention will conclude with a business
meeting. Hopefully, everyone can begin traveling back to their homes around
noon that day.
Finally, we are very excited about our banquet speaker this year. Our
speaker is Dr. Joseph Coelho, Assistant Professor of Biology at Quincy
University. Dr. Coelho will speak on the topic of cultural entomology. It
should be very interesting!
If you have any questions at all about the convention, please don’t hesitate
to contact Robb VanPutte at the phone number or email address below.
